TIDA-01464: Does TI have 800W LED Driver solution

Part Number: TIDA-01464
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28950, UCC28019A, UCC28019, UCC28180, PMP11062, PMP11211, UCC256301

Dear Sir,

My customer would like design a 800W LED Driver power solution(I have TIDA-01464 reference design for 200W).

Spec as below, Does TI have this similar power solution.

Input Voltage: 90-305V
Output voltage: TBD
Eff: 93%
PF:  >0.9 @230V FULL LOAD
THD:  <10% @230V FULL LOAD
Output Voltage Ripple Noise <1%
Output current Ripple <5%
Output CV mode and CC mode
Dimming: PWM/ 0~10V/ analog

Please you kindly review and provide suggestion.

Thanks!

Steven

  • Steven,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

I am working on your inputs and give me some time to figure out the right solution. TIDA-01464 supports only up-to 200W output power.
I will revert back as soon as possible.

    Thanks,

    Surya Mishra
  • Dear Surya,

Customer would output voltage can up to 200V
I initial promote PFC_ UCC28019 or UCC28019A & PWM_ UCC28950, did you have another suggestion?
UCC28950 can disable Burst Mode ?
    Thanks!

    Steven
  • Steven,

You can look into  PMP11062 and PMP11211 designs with 1kW output power (Input 90V to 265V AC) based on UCC28180 PFC controller  for your reference. TIDA-01464 design guide has equations which can be referred to resize components (power inductor, MOSFET, secondary side rectifier etc.) for wide input range and higher output power with UCC28180 PFC controller. You can also use UCC28180 Design calculator for calculations.

UCC28180 controller has adjustable switching frequency operation as compared to  fixed switching frequency in UCC28019.

For proposing solution for 2nd stage, I would need more clarification on below questions:

    1. Is 200V Max output for 2nd stage?

    2. Does customer wants to support output voltage from 100V (400W) to 200V (800W) from same design?

    Thanks,

    Surya

  • Dear Sir,

    Customer's respond as below:

    1. Is 200V Max output for 2nd stage?

    YES

    2. Does customer wants to support output voltage from 100V (400W) to 200V (800W) from same design?

No, I want to control the output current to change the power, the power range from 600-800W

    Thanks!

    Steven

  • Steven,

As of now, we don't have any design ready for 2nd stage delivering power up-to 800W and supporting dimming as well. As per my understanding and discussions with internal team, UCC256301 (LCC topology) and UCC28950 (phase shifted full bridge topology) are the right PWM controllers to promote at this power level.

    Thanks,
    Surya
