TIDA-00817: BMS Algorithm

Part Number: TIDA-00817

Dear Team,

Customers are interested in TI's TIDA-00817 solution.

Here are some questions:

1. Why the efficiency range is 80%~93 %? The range is very wide.

2. I didn't see the reference design mention BMS algorithm( state of charge, battery life cycle, and so on). Customers would like to read the information. Is our reference design have the algorithm that customers need?

Here are some requirements from customers:

1.      LiFePO4 battery : 15S or 12S

2.      Rated voltage : 48.0V

3.      Charge Voltage : 54.0V

4.      Application : 5G communication equipment power supply

  • Hi Kevin,

We have a wide efficiency range due to the variability in external component selection such as the mosfet choices. The recommended guidelines are listed in this document: www.ti.com/.../sluuas6a.pdf and we typically allow customers to make their choices based off this. For an algorithm, we do not support any BMS algorithm as these parts function purely as a monitor/protector/balancer. For more information on algorithms I recommend reaching out to the gauge team. Otherwise, if you have any more questions feel free to contact me via email.

    Best Regards,

    Taylor Vogt
