TIDA-01573: LASER current control question

Part Number: TIDA-01573
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG1020

Hi team

Would you advise below 5 questions about TIDA-01573?

Please refer the attached file for detail.

Question

1.Are R5,R6,R7,R8 load resistance? Should we remove these resistors when we connect its
   LASER diode?
2.How can I adjust the laser current with this board?
3.Can you give me a reference circuit diagram that includes the current adjustment part?
4.Can you give me tools that allow constant design of peripheral parts?
For example, do you have an online tool such as WEBENCH or a sheet that calculates the
constants of peripheral parts by inputting the power supply voltage, laser VF, laser current,
pulse frequency, duty etc. in the excel sheet?
5.In TIDA - 01573, the anode side terminal is branched to 2 places on the right side with the
wiring of Top Layer, but should we care for board layout as well?
Thanks
Best regards,
Shidara
  • Hi Shidara,

thanks for posting your questions on TIDA-01573. let me help try to answer,
    1) yes and yes
2)adjust with pulse width or bus voltage
3)check out Simplified LiDAR Driver Stage Diagram from lmg1020 datasheet
4)I dont think we currently have anything like this ,what do you mean constants of peripheral parts?
    5) this is for a split power plane, for driving laser layout is critical, check out the TIDA-01573 report as well as the lmg1020 end of datasheet

let me know if you have any more questions as well!
    thanks,
