Hi,

I'm trying to generate an exponential rise using the standard SPICE input source type

EXP( {v1} {v2} {trise_delay} {tau_rise} {tfall_delay} {tau_fall) )

but TINA seems to complain every time about a floating point division by zero error. Regardless of how I define the statement.

Any help?

Hi Aidan,

Please install the latest version (v9.3.200.277 SF-TI) of TINA-TI simulator present in TI website (http://www.ti.com/tool/TINA-TI).

It simulates fine. Below is the simulation result.

Hi Arpan,

I updated and still it does not work. It still produces the same floating point error.

Hi Aidan,

I tried it and the result works the same as Arpan. Could you do us a favor by going to your TINA software and go to Help -> About and snapshot the picture of the GUI that pops up so that we can check the version?

Hi Aidan,

There is an updated version of TINA-TI launched after 9.3.150.328 SF-TI. The latest version is 9.3.200.277 SF-TI. You can download the latest version of TINA-TI at http://www.ti.com/tool/TINA-TI.

Kindly click on Download after opening the above link. Then follow the instructions to complete the download process.

Once the latest version is downloaded in your system, please uninstall the previous version and install the latest one. Now, if you simulate your .TSC using the latest TINA-TI, it will surely run.

Hi Arpan,

My apologies for asking you to jump through hoops. I have a few extra layers at my end and well, it caught me out. In fact I run TINA under WINE on Ubuntu. I had in fact updated the TINA version as you initially requested, but I didn't realise that after the updater ran, it had not actually updated the binaries. So I was forced to install a second instance of the latest TINA version. This did indeed install and helped but did not solve the problem. It no longer threw the floating point errors but instead it just hung!

So, I had a rather more painful fix, which did actually work. I was forced to run run WINE in full 64bit mode and this required a download of the very latest stable version of WINE, which I dutifully installed. Then re-installed TINA at the latest release and then ran TINA using the 64 bit version of WINE.

Hey Presto, success. It now plots as expected and no float errors.
