TIDA-010021: OPT3101EVM calibration data

Hi Mike,

In documents of "OPT3101 Distance Sensor System Calibration", page 7, 4.2.3, you can see when the crosstalk is very high, you need to change the scale. Step 2 only means a proper scale should be set.

For step3, you need to set a target in front of sensor as a reference for phase. For example, you can put the sensor in front of a wall with preset distance. Then change the value in software to your set distance, e.g. 20cm.

Thanks for the reply. Now i know better the concept of these procedures.

And i have follow the steps as instructed. However at the end of calibration, i got calibration data as below:

tx0, hdr0
illumXtalk.commonScale=0
phaseoffset=64663
illumXtalk.commonScale=0
phaseoffset=64663

tx0, hdr1

illumXtalk.commonScale=0
phaseoffset=64663
illumXtalk.commonScale=0
phaseoffset=64663

It seems that something went wrong. Any quick clue about this failure mode.

Hi Richard,

My sensor board doesn't have the GP2 routed out for continuous frequency calibration.

And i have commented out that portion of code in "OPT3101_initialize".  

But i'm still getting 

illumXtalk.commonScale=0
phaseoffset=64663

Do these numbers have certain meaning?

Actually calibration is complex and not sure if you have a chance to read our instructions as below link shown:

Reference design is showing a example for small size MCU to calibrate. But most cases, calibration is done during mass production line by fixture. So it's recommended to use our SDK to make the calibration.

This SDK is powerful and there is some documents to instruct how to use.

I'm now looking at http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau791/slau791.pdf as well as www.ti.com/.../sbac203 to troubleshoot my codes.

I suspected my "Illumination Crosstalk Measurement" was not working properly. 

is it when ILLUM_XTALK_CALIB = 1. The infrared emitter should be turned on?

if so, i should be able to observe the ON infrared emitter LED through camera...
