TIDA-01606: Voltage Sensing

Hi,

In the U.S. we have no access to the neutral of the grid. We have three phases and the ground. If I use the following design (please see the picture below), the common mode noise in the ground will be transferred to the cold side. Doesn't this design make your controller noisy?

Will the system power GND be connected any stable potential?

Hi Ram,

The fourth wire (power GND) is connected to the earth, and I think there are emi and common mode noises, which can be transferred to the cold side. Am I right?

Hi, Mohsen

I think you can add some Y-Cap between your GND and earth to filter the CM noise, if you met any problem.

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion. You mean for the voltage sensing purposes, I can define a virtual neutral, for example neutral point of the LCL filter and then connect it to the earth through a Y-Cap? please see the below:

Yes It could be. But, you need to show where is the CM noise come from.

If it is from line to earth , you can add 3 caps between the line wires and earth.

Yes, you are right, the Y-Caps are placed between line-to-ground, the one I draw in my previous comment should be called X-Cap. Thank you.

I have one more question, I found the blow drawing in your TIDA-01606 design. What is the purpose of placing this capacitor? Doesn't this placement let the noises to be transferred into the GND, which is the cold side controller ground? What we gain instead?

this Y CAP，it can keep GND and PGND in same volt level，avoid CM noise influence.
