I have built this design on 11287 PCB using the supplied gerber files. The main output capacitor, 470uF, 16V, swells and leaks electrolyte. It appears that it may be seeing excessive ripple current.

Has anyone else had success with this design. The PMP11287 is similar, but the current limit BJT is obsolete.

Hi David

I assume you have checked that the capacitor is connected with the correct polarity in the circuit?

This is a low power design, 12V, 55mA so I would be surprised if the ripple current would be an issue.

I have also asked the original designer to comment.

Thanks Peter.

Turns out that C8 footprint is backward in the board art gerber files. Square pin and "+" on silkscreen are actually ground.
