PMP10783: REplaceent of UCC28C42 with UCC28C45

Part Number: PMP10783
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28C45

Good day.

i would like to ask if i could use this reference circuit with UCC28C45D?

  • Hi Gooi Wen,

There are two difference between the C42 and C45.

The C42 has wider hysteresis on the UVLO pin, this is very helpful in offline applications (AC input), using the C45 would mean making the bias capacitor much much larger.

The second difference is the duty cycle limit, C42 can go to 100% duty cycle which is helpful during startup, the C45 is limited to 50%.

So in general I would not recommend the switch.

    Thanks,

    Robert

  • Hi Robert,

I would like to get some advise on the same case what if we want to use the UCC28C45D. Is there any reference design as we need the output to be 15V@0.5A.

  • Hi Gooi Wen,

No, we do not have any designs for AC/DC with the UCC28C45, it is not a good choice due to the limitations I listed above.

    Thanks,

    Robert
