TIDA-00951: TIDA-00951 SW

Part Number: TIDA-00951

There is no output of pin 35 EPWM5A of TMS320F28035 in TIDA-01281 control board

In the source code, EPWM5A is set by Coldstart state but it is not used.

Q1.Is it possible to BUCK Mode operate without any wave from EPWM5A?

Q2. In what operation is the EPWM5A function activated?

  • Hi, sambong

The isolated bidirectional DC-DC converter has two major modes of operation. When it is working as a backup power supply, it operates as an active clamped current-fed boost converter transferring power from the battery to the 380-V DC bus. When operating as a battery charger, the DC-DC converter works
as a buck converter transferring power from the 380-V DC bus to the battery. Apart from the two major modes, there is an additional mode for the cold starting the system. This mode is used to start up the TIDA-00951 in case the HV DC bus is completely discharged before board start-up.

  • As shown in the figure, for driving Q8 and Q9 of the 380V bus side switch, the driving pulse of pin 35 EPWM5A of TMS320F28035 is
    Must be
However, the function is disabled in the actual firmware.

Why is the EPWM5A signal on the TMS320F28035 disabled?

  • Hi, sambong

In the Buck mode, this design works as half bridge converter, Q8 and Q9 is not must have.
