TIDA-01606: C130 (3kV, 2200pF) between PGND and GND?

Hello,

Could you kindly tell us the purpose of using capacitor C130 (3kV, 2200pF) between PGND and GND? Isn't both the ground are at the same potential and can be shorted using a zero-ohm resistor or ferrite bead. If at all capacitance is needed then, why of such a high voltage rating. If possible kindly share with us the reference for the same.

Hi Manish,

PGND and GND are not on the same DC potential. GND is floating with reference to PGND (which is tied to the center point of the split capacitor bank). You do not need to use a 3KV rated Y cap (2.2nF) in all applications. In most applications, you can use a 1KV rated Y cap at C130.
