What is the max voltage of DRV110 EN and STATUS pins? Spec sheet seems to say 7V but in TIDA-00289 the STATUS pin is tied up to VIN=15V which is a lot more convenient in my design.

Hi Sandeep,
Please use a pull down resistor also from the STATUS pin to GND to limit the voltage at the STATUS pin within 7V. Assuming VZENER= 15V, and with a pull up of 51.1k (R37), please use a pull down resistor of 35k or less to limit the status pin.
Thanks,
Manu
Manu, is it possible that the STATUS pin always sinks some current, eg:
293.54uA * 51.1k = 15V
That would explain why the STATUS pin doesn't burn out in the TIDA-00289 design.BTW the TINA spice model for STATUS seems to be broken, but it does always sink
293.54uA ...drv110_limit_ref.TSC
Hi Sandeep,
The status pin is an open drain. So when the internal switch at status pin is ON, the switch will be able to sink the current mentioned even from 15V supply. But when the internal switch at status pin is open the status will see the external 15V, and that is more than the specified 7V.
Thanks,
Manu
Thanks Manu--I'll close this ticket and limit the STATUS pin to 7V in my design. I don't understand how TIDA-00289 gets away with allowing STATUS to float to 15V ....
