PMP21582: How to change the output voltage to 36 VDC from this reference design

Part Number: PMP21582
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC256302

Hi ,

I want to use this reference design PMP21582 for my motor controller . but the output of this design is 30VDC but its not enough for my Motor controller. Can I be able to change this to 36 VDC? if yes , could you please tell me how to do this ? Current of this is 8.33 A which is totally fine for my motor controller.but Minimum current should be 3 A . The motor i am using is BDC Motor.

Thank you

Best regards,

Nimantha

  • Hi Nimantha,

You would need to modify the resonant tank for this design to fit the higher output voltage.

First increasing the number of primary turns will help raise the gain curve of the LLC. From there you should need to adjust the primary and leakage inductance to tune what frequency you want to operate at.

The UCC256302 has an useful design calculator under the "design & development" page that can help determine your design choices. Other than that the final design will end up being similar to PMP21582, but with a few changes.

    Thanks,

    John
