TIDA-00281: Why were capacitors for current sensing removed?

Part Number: TIDA-00281

Hello,

In TIDA-00281 Rev E1, capacitors (C78, C79, C80, C92, C93, C94, C101, C102, C103) were removed from the original version, or DNI. Is this because the low pass filtering is not necessary even in high power motor application, or because these capacitors may cause negative impact? 10 Ohms resistors (R60, R62, R87, R89, R96, R98) are still required, right?

      Thanks,

      John

  • Hi, John,

Welcome to e2e and thanks for your interest in our products

It is good practice to put pads down and don’t put the components down if you don’t need them. Due to the myriad of applications for this design, some may need the external capacitors to increase the amount of filtering on the current signals due to noise in the system. I encourage you to place these pads on your design in case you need them after you assemble it.

The 10 ohm resistors still provide some filtering, but if it’s not enough, you may need to populate the caps, too.

    Good luck with your project!
