TIDA-010029: SpO2 measurement on sternum & ordering the evaluation board

Part Number: TIDA-010029
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4420

Hi, I have two questions regarding TIDA-010029 evaluation board.

  1. Have you tested SFH 7072 on sternum for SpO2 measurement? And do you think the red and infrared LEDs using the AFE4420 are powerful enough to penetrate the skin on sternum? If not, do you have any other suggestion?
  2. Is there any way to order the TIDA-010029 to evaluate the SpO2 measurement? I cannot easlily find a link on your website.

Looking forward to your answer.

Best regards,

Pourya

  • Pourya, hello and thank you for your interest in Texas Instruments.  I have forwarded your E2E to our Medical systems team that owns the design. As they are in India, the day is over, so it will be Monday at the earliest before you get a response back from the team.  I will tell you that there is no hardware available for this particular design for purchase. Our deployment strategy is that we build and test the actual design and post the results along with the design files such that you, the customer can replicate the design yourself.

  • Hi,

    1. AFE4420 has integrated LED drivers which can drive LED currents from 50 mA to 200 mA. Though the currents are not continuously driven, they are driven with a duty cycle. It should be enough to drive both red and IR LEDs. However, TIDA-010029 has not been tested for sternum.

    2. As John mentioned in his reply, TIDA-010029 is not available for purchase. The gerber files are available on the product link which you can use for manufacturing. (http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-010029)

What application are you working on? Is it a patch? Does it have only SpO2 monitoring?

    Regards,

    Sanjay R. Pithadia

  • Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for your response. The application is a patch indeed and we'd like to measure SpO2. Do you have the opportunity to test TIDA-010029 on sternum as I cannot order the development kit or do you have any idea if there is a fast way to test this?

  • Hi Pourya,

Currently due to lockdown in India, it is not possible to test at our end. The only idea right now is if you can order AFE4420 EVM and test it on sterdum. The EVM comes with reflective sensor, so it should suffice. Thank you.

  • Hi Sanjay,

Understandable that you cannot test it. Which optical sensor is used with the evaluation kit?

    Pourya

  • Hi Pourya,

The evaluation kit uses SFH7072 optical sensor.
