TIDA-00779: dc bus voltage

Hello!

The nominal dc-bus voltage of the TIDA-00779 is chosen 390 V, which is controlled by a PFC circuit. I know that this value is considered as VDC>Vin_max*sqrt(2), as VDC>270*sqrt(2).

I, however, think this voltage value for dc bus is so high to drive a 220 V three-phase motor. So, the input voltage range should be reduced which is not acceptable for such practical device.

Can anyone explain it for me?

Hi，

The nominal DC voltage for 220VAC input is 310V. This reference design is a boost PFC solution and its minimum DC voltage is no less than 310V.

Or else you need to choose other topology for you PFC solution.

The boost PFC solution is not effective if the input voltage goes up, 230V for example. At this condition, the DC voltage becomes 325 V.

Could you please tell me what other topology for PFC is suggested?

Hi,

You can refer to below training material for PFC basic but unfortunately TI don't have all topology solution.

And for BLDC, you can control the RMS value through PWM, even DC voltage is higher.

Hi,

Generally speaking, 220V is RMS value and its peak-peak value is ±310V. For the SPWM, its RMS value is shown as below. You can adjust the RMS value by duty cycle.Thanks
