Issue Installing PSPICE for TI

Hi!

I'm attempting to install PSPICE for TI. I get as far as the following screen:

Then the installer closes with no warning. Sometimes the progress bar advances a few millimeters before it closes; sometimes the progress bar is still blank.

Why is this happening? How can I fix whatever issue this is?

Thanks!

  • Matthew,

Thank you for contacting us about your Pspice for TI installation.

We are sorry you have encountered problems.

    Just a few questions:
    1. Does your machine use Windows 10 as the operating system?
    2. Do you have administrative privileges on your machine?
    3. Do you have an internet connection when you start the installation?

Would you please send the log file if it is available?
It will hopefully be at %APPDATA%\Roaming\Cadence\PSpiceTIInstall\cdsPspiceTIlog.txt

    Regards,
    John

  • Yes, the computer is running Windows 10 and has an internet connection at install time, and I'm installing from an account with admin privileges.

I've run the installer multiple times, so in the log file, there are multiple duplicated logs of install attempts. Here's one copy of an install log (with my username removed):

  • Thanks Matthew.
I will run this by the vendor for their feedback.

    Regards,
    John

  • Matthew,

The vendor is looking at your inquiry.
Their feedback will be forwarded as soon as it is available.

    Regards,
    John

  • Matthew,

According to the Pspice for TI vendor, the system policies are not allowing the hashing/encryption algorithm being used to verify the checksum.

Please follow the steps given below :

    1. Open Windows Control Panel > Administrative tools > Local Security Policy
    2. On the left hand side column, select Local Policies > Security Options
    3. On the right hand side column, select System Cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing and signing.
Double click on this and set it to disabled if it is enabled. (Screenshot attached)
    4. Restart the machine and perform installation again.

Please try the steps and let us know if it fixes the problem you are seeing.

    Regards,
    John

  • Matthew,

Did the vendor's suggestions fix the problem?

Please let us know one way or the other.

    Regards,
    John

  • Unfortunately, my work computer has that setting stuck on enabled, and security policies don't allow me to change it. If this setting is required to be disabled, it looks like I won't be able to use pspice on my work computer.

  • Matthew,

    Thank you for the reply.

This may not be the only option.

I will check with the vendor and get back to you on this thread.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Regards,
    John

  • Matthew,

    Apologies for delay.

The Pspice vendor has replied with the following:

Please ask the user's T team to temporarily disable "Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing and signing" (they should be able to do this with admin privileges), install PSpice for TI and get it enabled again.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes.

    Regards,
    John

  • Matthew,

Have you been able to install Pspice for TI?
    Is it working?

    Regards,
    John
