WEBENCH® Tools/TPS61236P: TPS61236PRWLR

Part Number: TPS61236P

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

I try to create a custom inductor in the Webench, but I realize that after creating and saving the new part, Some parameters are not shown in the inductor list (like: Irms, Tolerance, Footprint, Height). Also after rerun the simulation with new parameter, like changing the output current, the new inductor is disappeared and cannot be found in the inductor list. I would like to create the TDK inductor SPM5030T-1R0M.

Attached here my design for 2A and 3A:

Please help me with this issue.

Best Regards,

Ramin

  • Hi Ramin,

Please note that when you create a custom inductor, we do not show the parameters of inductor. However if you select a real inductor then all the parameters are shown.

You can run the simualtion with the inductor you select. However when you update the output current after selecting the inductor , the components again get selected with default values. You can change the output current first and then search for required inductor.

Regarding the specified TDK inductor, edit the inductor limits as shown and search with the respective part number.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Atul.

  • Hi Atul,

I do the same as you mentioned but the new part cannot be found in the list.

The SPM5030T-1R0M are not correct and this is why I try to make a custom part. The SPM5030T-1R0M in the list shows Irms=6.4A but the datasheet shows Irms=10.1A.

    product.tdk.com/.../info

I edit the inductor limits (Irms=10.5A) and search with the respective part number but it cannot be found. Please advise.

    BR,

    Ramin

  • Hi Ramin,

Please find the below steps to select the inductor.

    1) Create the design and click on inductor and select choose alternate option.

    2)Click on Edit option

    3) Edit the limits as shown below

    4) Search for your inductor as shown.

    5) Click on "Select" to select the inductor

I have shared the design with the inductor FYR.

  • Hi Atul,

SPM5030T-1R0M is defined by TI and can be found easily.

As I mentioned before the Irms of SPM5030T-1R0M is incorrect (6.4A instead of 10.1A). Attached datasheet:

    product.tdk.com/.../info

I try to define a new inductor with Irms=10.1A. First of all, before saving the new device, I get an warning that the 10.1A is larger than the 8.5A recommended then I save it (maybe here is the problem).

Second, I do the same procedure as you mentioned, but the new device cannot be found.

Try to run a simulation with current output=2A, then create a new inductor according to the attached datasheet with Irms=10.1A (name it RAMIN123). Then run a new simulation with output current=3A and try to choose an alternative and search for the new inductor P/N (RAMIN123). Let me know if you can find it.

    Best Regards,

    Ramin

  • Hi Ramin,

We have updated the inductor idc rating as per the datasheet. However this will take minimum of around two weeks to reflect on the website.

Regarding your second query, when you create a custom inductor , the custom part remains till you are run a new design.

Once you update the condition to create new design, the previously created inductor will be deleted and you need to create the part again with your inductor specs.

    Best Regards,

    Atul
