WEBENCH® Tools/LP87524J-Q1:

Part Number: LP87524J-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP87524-Q1

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi,

I download PSpice model and try to use it to simulate on PSpice for TI. When I open simulation file, the tool show it is read only as the screenshot below. I try to simulate it but  the simulation is automatically terminated after several seconds.

Regard

HL

  • Hello,

Is this the only model you have issue with, have you had success with other models?

    Regards,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris,

We are using LP8752J on our product and need to simulate its behavior. We have tried the other model without any problem .

    Regards,

    HL

  • Hello,

Have you tried unchecking the read only attribute in the Windows properties for the simulation files?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela

  • Hi,

I have tried unchecking the read only attribute, the simulation is still terminated automatically after run command is set .

    Regards,

    HL Chen

  • Hello HL,

You could try with LP87564 model instead, we have had customers running it in the TI Spice environment. https://www.ti.com/product/LP87564-Q1#design-development##design-tools-simulation

You just need to set the output voltages and current limits to reflect the actual setup of the LP87524J. Also SW frequency must be set to 4MHz.

Note the LP875x models were developed for the Cadence tool and there can be some differences in the TI Spice which causes it to crash. Without error message etc. it would be difficult to investigate what is causing it.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela

  • Hi,

We used LP87564 model  and didn't  modify  the configurations to LP87524J. The result is the same as LP87524J's. The simulation tool is terminated after we run the simulation.

    Regards,

    HL

  • Hi HL,

I just tried the LP87524J model startup simulation with PSPICE for TI and it seems to work fine. I just downloaded the simulation model package from ti.com, uncompressed it, disabled the read only attribute for the whole folder. Then from the PSPICE for TI I opened the project file, selected the startup simulation profile and selected "Simulate selected profile". Bucks started ramping up the output voltage as supposed to in the result window.

So I don't see this being a simulation model problem, it is more a installation/setup/tool problem. Without error information etc. it is quite difficult to diagnose.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela

  • Hi,

Thank you for your help. We selected the startup simulation profile and selected "Simulate selected profile". The error message screenshot is as below. Is something we missed?

    After the :

  • Hi,

I have tried several times and  still have  problems. May I know which simulation model you used? I see another error message as below. What does it mean?

I use the simulation model download from TI website, its filename is snvmb02a.zip. Is there anything I missed?

    HL Chen

  • Hi,

I have tried several simulation models, only LP87524 simulation result was fail. Could you provide your simulation model and detail the simulation procedure?

    Regards,

    HL Chen

  • Hello HL,

I'm using the same model as you.

The error message seems to indicate that there is something wrong with the installation of the tool. Have you tried reinstalling it?

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela

  • Hello HL,

I'm using the same model as you.

    Here's similar case: https://e2e.ti.com/support/tools/sim-hw-system-design/f/234/t/941961?PSPICE-FOR-TI-PSPICE-FOR-TI-Error-when-I-launch-the-simulation

You can also check cadence support: https://www.pspice.com/error-create-pspice-simulation-profile

Also make sure the folder you have the model is not read only.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela

  • Hi,

I follow the method to add "consmgr"  folder. I have a problem  as screenshot below now. The error message indicates " there are no devices in this circuit" .

    Regards,

    HL Chen

  • Hello HL,

Yes in the include section seems to be blank, so there's nothing to simulate. For some reason it does not include or find the startup.net file, or the file itself is blank (which it should not be).

I don't know what to tell you since it works fine here. Maybe try with different computer? If there is some conflict with other installed SW.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    Tomi Koskela
