WEBENCH® Tools: WEBENCH -> Cadence OrCad Capture Version 17.2-2016?

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I have a customer attempting to export a design into Cadence OrCad Capture Version 17.2-2016.

Is this supported?

In addition, if customer isn't going to run additional sims, does the WEBENCH OrCAD Connector have to be downloaded and installed?

Hi Gregory,

The WEBENCH orCAD connector is available for 16.2 version and user need to install the WEBENCH connector to open the exported file. We will check and let you know if WEBENCH connector supports for 17.2 version.

Hi Greg,

The connector is needed for running the simulations. You dont need it for exporting the schematic or layout to Orcad/Allegro.

Just want to post an update to above question as we seem to have some confusion.

WEBENCH Export to Cadence SPB 17.2 or higher :

1. Schematic and PCB :

This does not require a connector. But 17.2 or higher version is not natively supported. WEBENCH CAD export only has support from SPB 16.0 to 16.6. One work-around is to use 16.6 version to create the project from the exported files and then import the project to 17.2.

2. Simulation:

As Gerold mentioned below - simulation of exported schematic requires a connector and is not available for 17.2 or higher.
