WEBENCH® Tools/TPS74401: Webench incorrectly connects CBIAS to EN-Pin

Part Number: TPS74401

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Webench-Team,

I got customer feedback regarding an error in Webench. Can you have a look at it to solve it?

For the TPS74401, Webench behaves contrary to the data sheet. At the lower feedback resistance WB says:

But the data sheet says:

Also in WB the CBIAS is connected to the EN pin and not to the BIAS pin:

Thank you,

Franz

  • Hi Franz,

    We will fix this issue.

    Thanks & Regards,

  • Hi Franz,

We have corrected the CBIAS pin connection in the TPS74401 schematic. We have also updated the feedback resistors selection as per table 3 in the datasheet. The fix will available on ti.com by 23rd October.

However, Please note that the WEBENCH first chooses the lower resistor Rfbb based on the output voltage. The minimum and maximum limits of Rfbb remain the same to get the specific standard resistor shown in the above table. However, the user can change the limits of the resistor on WEBENCH per his requirement.

If we keep the wide range of limits to the resistor, there is a possibility that the resistor might get selected for different values and it does not follow the above-mentioned table.

If a custom component is chosen outside pre-defined limits then WEBENCH shows the alert which can be ignored and it allows you to select the required resistor.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Praveen
