TIDA-00010: TIDA-00010: Clarification needed on TIDA-00010 MCU MSP430F552X and MPU-9150

Part Number: TIDA-00010

Dear Team,

We are in the process of designing a transmission pulse oximeter based on TIDA-00010 design. After, we read the MSP430F552X datasheet we understood that the MCU MSP430F552X  itself is capable of sending and receiving data via USB, but when I checked the MSP430F5529 USB Launchpad development schematic in the link https://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-EXP430F5529LP  it has USB Interface IC TUSB2046BIRHBR. Should we need to include USB interface IC in our design to send and receive data to Android & IoS mobiles via USB  or MSP430F552X  itself is capable of transmitting and receiving measured data to mobile via USB.

Also please clarify, are we using MPU-9150 is just for display orientation or MPU-9150 also used to detect vibration and movement of patients during SPO2 and Heart rate measurement.

  • Hello Viknesh,

MSP430F5529 has a USB peripheral interface that can be directly used instead of an additional TUSB chip.

MPU9150 accelerometer was included in the design to capture the acceleration data for better heart rate estimation in the presence of motion.

Also as a note, I would like to point out that all the collaterals TI could share is already part of the TIDA-00010 design folder.

We will not be able to provide support related to the HR and Spo2 algorithm.
