Procedure to create a library of 3rd party models and parts for ease in portability

It is quite easy to create a new model or part by importing the 3rd party model in a PSpice For TI project but it becomes difficult handling multiple generated models especially when we need to work across different devices as we need to re-generate those same models while simulating the same project file on a different device.

Thus, can anyone please guide me towards a way in which we can create a dedicated library of the generated/created models in PSpice For TI which can be transferred across multiple devices as well as could be easily shared with multiple members of the team working on the same project without having to re-create/re-generate the models in a new device.

Hi Srinjay,

You will need to keep a tag on the lib files. Importing creates olb files which contains schematic symbols. You can use the olb files in other projects, there’s no need to keep importing them.

Hi JC Zhu,

I meant that suppose after generating a model can I import that model into a different device and use it there in projects without having to re-add the library file in the configuration files in the simulation settings? I actually meant generating/creating the model in one system and using it across multiple devices without re-adding the library file under the simulation settings. Please elaborate on this if it is possible.

by multiple devices I meant separate devices on which a team works, Suppose I create a PSpice For TI project and I share it on a separate device, the other team member needs to re-add the model Library file (.lib file) in the simulation settings else it won't work.

So my query is can I create a directory of generated/created models that can be transferred across multiple separate devices and used to build projects without having to re-add them(especially the .lib file) in the simulation settings?

Hi Srinjay,

As far as LIB files go, it is individual users' responsibilities to include them in the sim profile.

Rather than adding each LIB file individually however, you could create a single lib file that points to all the LIB files you curated for the entire team to share and just include this "master" LIB file.

You can see an example by looking at the nom*.lib files:

Hi Srinjay,

It simply uses the standard SPICE syntax (.LIB statement) to refer the individual LIB files.

Hope you had a great weekend, I need a case example for the same since I couldn't figure out how to achieve the same.

Just a simple example of say three generated .LIB files exist, then how to create the master .LIB file using these three .LIB files? Please throw some light on this.
