TIDA-00254: Camera can not connect

Hi,

Good day.

Our customer has the following question;

When using DLP_LightCrafter_4500_3D_Scanner_Application.exe the projector connects but the camera does not. The error is CAMERA_ID_INVALID.
In DLP_LightCrafter_4500_3D_Scan_Application_Config.txt is CAMERA_TYPE = 0

When using the software from Flir the camera works without problems.

Do you have any advice to solve this problem?

I've received a feedback from my customer. Kindly refer below.

"To setup the lightcrafter with the camera I followed the user's guide you purposed.
Additionally, I've asked if it is possible to use the TIDA-00254 with the camera I use now. Their respond was yes as long as the camera supports openCV.

There is a case in the E2E forum with exactly the same problem. Unfortunately the solution purposed in the case was not solving my problem.

Any updates on the above issue? If you are still having issues connecting your camera, you may want to try using a different "known good" model to see if the software works first. You can then test compatibility with the camera you want to use.

Good day. Just got a response from our customer.

We are using a Blackfly S USB3 camera from Flir.
We were able to solve the problem with the camera connection. We have installed a much older driver. This leads to the next error ( Format7) as described in other e2e forum posts. We know we have to change the settings on the camera or build the SDK from TI with custom code.
However, we don't understand why your program (DLP_LightCrafter_4500_3D_Scan_Application.exe) doesn't work with the latest camera driver. Especially because in the user's guide it is described that if you don't use the suggested camera, you just have to change the settings to "OpenCV Camera" (dlpu019b.pdf). But this only works with the suggested webcam from Microsoft and not with the Flir camera. Could you explain to me how a camera is recognized by the software? Or what we would have to change in the source code to be able to use the latest driver? ""

It looks like this issue may be resolved as follows:

"you will need to update "CAMERA_TYPE = 0" in the DLP_LightCrafter_4500_3D_Scan_Application_Config.txt file. This file can be found in the top level installation file.

Please refer to p.26 of the user's guide for detailed information.

Also please double check that you have followed through all the mentioned steps in section 2.2 and 3.2 of the User's guide and have setup the camera correctly.

Note that if you're using an untriggered camera, three phase hybrid scanning will not work."\
