PSPICE-FOR-TI: How to manually uninstall PSpice for TI (no uninstaller in Windows)

Part Number: PSPICE-FOR-TI

Hi,

After my IT department installed PSpice for TI on my machine, it has licensing issues (thread PSPICE-FOR-TI: Error LMC-02955).  I was told to uninstall it and re-install it.  However, there is no windows uninstaller (and no start menu option for launching the program), so my IT department has asked me to get instructions on manually uninstalling it, so that they can try again.

Is removing it as simple as deleting the files at "C:\Cadence\PSpiceTI" and "C:\Users\...\AppData\Roaming\Cadence"?

Couple comments from my IT department:

1) Tell them that your machine has windows customized and many settings are pre-defined by your company.

2) According to what they suggested you to do (to install). I am not sure it will work. Because our computers are set to not allow the user to install anything on this machine, it needs to be installed with the temp admin code.

Any thoughts on the above would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Robbie

  • Hello Robbie,

    PSpice for TI does not need administrator privileges during installation, and it is recommended to install without administrator privileges. PSpice for TI cannot be installed on multiple accounts for the same machine.

    Please double check that your Control Panel does not show PSpice for TI as an option. If possible, we recommend having your administrator uninstall the PSpice for TI tool, because they did the installation. If neither option is available to you, please take the following steps:

    1. Backup and save any of your designs to a location that you will not be deleting

    2. Delete the installation folder, which should be at C:\Cadence\PSpiceTI

    3. Navigate to C:\Users\< your username >\cdssetup. Remove the folders:

    • OrCAD_CaptureTIPSpice_Install
    • OrCAD_PSpiceTIPSpice_Install
    • pspTILibDir

    4. Navigate to %APPDATA%. You can directly type "%APPDATA%" in the File Explorer. (This is likely at C:\Users\< your username >\AppData\Roaming). Delete the following:

    • %APPDATA%\InstallShield Installation Information\{A74FAFD7-6510-4067-95FD-1F90BEF78B8F}
    • %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\PSpice for TI 2020

    7. Please open the start menu and search "regedit" and select Registry Editor

    8. In the Registry Editor, please delete the following:

    • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cadence\Client\TI_PSpice_174
    • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{A74FAFD7-6510-4067-95FD-1F90BEF78B8F}
    • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cadence Design Systems\PSpice for TI 2020

    This should be sufficient to "uninstall" PSpice for TI.

    Thank you,

    Jackie
