TIDA-00449: About the BQ796x0 I2C baudrate

Part Number: TIDA-00449
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76930, , TIDA-010208, BQ76952, BQ76940, BQ76942

Dear Expert,

In TIDA-00449 firmware, the BQ76930 baud rate is 80KHZ, in the BQ769x0 datasheet in page 16: Fscl clock frequency from 0-100kHz, in page 28, 10.3.1.4: The AFE implements a stand 100-kHz I2C interface and acts as a slave device. if the I2C baud rate not more than 100kHz the MCU can communication BQ769x0 IC?

  • Hi,

The maximum I2C speed of BQ76940 is 100kHz, it is ok to use lower than 100kHz I2C to communicate with BQ76940. If you are looking for higher communication speed, you may look at BQ76952(16s max) or BQ76942(10s max). We also have a system solution TIDA-010208 based on BQ769x2 family for your reference.
