TIDA-01606: PFC topology

Part Number: TIDA-01606

Working on TIDA-01606 and I need to know the principle topology used in the design

Is it Boost or Buck ?

thanks

  • Hi,

when TIDA 01606 is attached to the grid the DC voltage can be increased with respect to the grid.

This means that in PFC operation TIDA 01606 works as a boost converter.

Just to give you an example:

    • when the T-type converter is off the DC bus voltage will be around sqrt(2)*(Vline to line)= sqrt(2)*380 = 540 V
    • when you turn on the PFC the voltage of the DC bus will rise and you will be able to control up to a maximum value that is given by the semiconductor technology (e.g 800 V)

    Best regards

    Riccardo
