TIDA-01606: Reg DC voltage sensing involving AMC1311BDWVR (TIDA-01606)we are facing non-linearity in ADC measurements

Part Number: TIDA-01606

Dear TI team,

Good morning.

We have sensing DC panel voltage in which we have used DC voltage sensing reference circuit from TIDA-01606.

Kindly find below details.

For example we are sensing DC panel voltage of 400V at no load in converter and We have ADC value 850mV.

After above step we have step up the voltage to 600V and loaded the converter with 1A.

Then even though input  voltage is 400V constant,we are getting ADC value of 1V .(850mV+150mV)150mV is getting added.

Kindly reply.

Thank you,

Girish K

  • Dear Girish,

in TIDA 1606 there are two different methods for measuring DC values:

    • TIDA 1606 ISO HV CARD, high voltage DC bus is measured by means of insulated op amp (AMC1311DWVR)
    • TIDA 1606 Power Card, the high voltage DC is measured by means of voltage divider effect.

It will be interesting to understand, which of the two methods has been implemented in the current hardware.

From the provided description, what I can see is a grounding issue. Examples:

    • 1 A is causing a voltage drop that cause this error in the output.
    • no proper connection of the high voltage terminals, for example before and after a common mode choke.
    • etc.

In order to give you a more precise answer I need to know:

    • measurement method that has been implemented.
    • is there any common mode choke implemented?
    • where the MCU is sitting?

    Best Regards

    Riccardo

  • Dear Riccardo Ruffo,

    Good morning.

Thank you very much for your reply.

We have made some observations and would like to share a report with you to analyse the issue.

    Kindly share your mail id.

    Thank you,
