TIDA-01606: Design Help

Genius 13959 points
Part Number: TIDA-01606

Hi Experts,

Good day.

Client is producing an inverter for compression for air condition and need to rebuild it.

It is THGA 5512C 400 – 440V/50 – 60Hz.
Rated current RLA 1,7/1,8A
Max. current 2,5/2,5A
Start current LRA: 10,7/11A

Compressor is feeded from bus net 28V. To prevent of current shocks during the start, they plan to make a linear incidence start for 2 seconds. Their customer needs a new inverter for electrobusses for feeding air condition with power output 17KW.

Question: Is it possible to make this development on our kit (TIDA01606), is it suitable?

Thanks for your guidance.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Team,

    Good day.

    Any update on this?

    Thank you.

    Regard,
    Archie A.

  • Dear Archie,

TIDA 1606 is a reference design able to boost the voltage from the AC to DC side.

To give you an example, with 400 Vline-to-line rms, DC bus voltage needs to be higher than 600 Vdc.

As far as I understand, you are looking for a design able to converter the input voltage down to 28 V, than you need a PFC buck topology. I can propose you two designs:

    • TIDA 1606 plus a buck converter that decrease the voltage down to 28 V
    • Swiss rectifier. This is buck PFC converter.

    Other comments:

    • TIDA 1606 is not able to drain more than 11 kW from the grid.

    Many thanks for your attention.

    Best Regards

    Riccardo
