TIDA-00176: Reference design for synchronous motor

Part Number: TIDA-00176
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01629, TIDA-010025

Hi team,

My cusotmer finds that this app note is for AC motor. Do we have such an app note for synchronous motor?

Thanks!

  • Hello,

thank you for your interest in the TIDA-00176. This design of for an rotary motor angle encoder with Sin/Cos encoders. It is independent,
to which motor it is mounted. It will work with any type of motor.

With regards to the synchronous motor. There are two types of synchronous motors a permanent magnet or separately excited synchronous motor or a synchronous reluctance motor. Both are AC type of motors since the are typically driven by variable frequency inverters (3-phase inverter).

When you customers needs a power stage too, please have a look at e.g. TIDA-010025 for 200/400VAC input drives or TIDA-01629 for DC-fed drives with 60VDC.

    Regards,
    Martin Staebler
