TIDA-00289: solution for driving 3V solenoid

Part Number: TIDA-00289
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIOL111, TIDA-01250

Hallo TI's team,

I am looking for a solenoid control solution with the following parameters:

Voltage: DC3V

Power : 8W

Current: 2.68A

Resistance: 1.12Ω

Working  Cycle: 0.5s On, 1s Off

Can you suggest a solution? I'm founded some TI's references, but I'm not sure that it's suitable.
www.ti.com/.../products.html all solenoid drivers from this link has too high Vs voltage.

Thank you!

  • Hello,

are you looking for a solution which is operating from 3V (the entire electronics) or is the solenoid only supplied with 3V? In case the entire electronic is only supplied with 3V and you don't need higher voltage, the solution shown in TIDA-01250 could be an option. In the shown reference design, the circuit is powered with 24V via IO-Link, however, the device TIOL111 has an LDO (3V3) which means the MCU runs at 3.3V and could run also lower. In case one of the solenoid driver is adequate, then we miht need to look into a boost converter.

Please let us know which direction we shall look into.

    Thanks and regards

    Alex
