TIDA-050047: TPS25750, BQ25792

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, BQ25792, BQ25713, BQ25731, PMP41013

Hi

I am designing the electronics for a cordless power tool and currently working on the power path. Some facts&requirements:

  • powered by 2 Li-Ion cells
  • the motor draws up to 20A
  • standalone solution required (no SW)
  • the tool gets recharged by a USB-PD charger
  • low standby current

The TPS25750 together with BQ25792 look like the perfect solution but the integrated BATFET is not capable of delivering 20A to SYS. It's probably not good practice but cold I for example connect the power stage of the motor directly to the battery? The power stage will never be powered when a charger is connected so the BATFET would only be bypassed when the charger is disconnected.

BQ25713 and BQ25731 would allow a higher SYS current but they have a pretty high quiescent current of up to 45uA if I am not mistaken?

Any suggestions welcome!
