TIDA-00779: Boost inductor (toroid format) for a PFC converter

Part Number: TIDA-00779
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28180

Hi Team,

Our customer would like to design a boost inductor (toroid format) for a PFC converter and is looking for some documents that could help him. Please see the details of his inquiry below.

I contact you today because I would like to design a boost inductor in AC operation. Do you have any documentation? It's a inductor boost for a PFC. AC input / DC output

I am looking for assistance on how to design my self in AC. I'm new to the electronics field. Do you help or do I have to go to the material manufacturers like Magnetics or ferroxcube?

I want to make a boost inductor (toroid format) for a PFC converter.

Vin min= 360 VAC
Vin max= 528VAC
Vout= 800VDC
Iout= 2.625A @800VDC

Can he modify the TIDA-00779 to fit his requirements? If not, kindly suggest a device and documents that our customer could use for this application.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi, Danilo

      TI has the design calculator for UCC28180. although TID-00779 can be modified to fit his requirements, but it is not recommended, since too many components need to be replaced due to high voltage requirements, another problem is layout spacing, 00779 is designed for a 220VAC/400VDC PFC system, so the routes spacing is not enough for a 380VAC/800VDC system. Suggest to build a new board.

       Is this a 3 phase system or single phase system?

    Regards

    Hely
