How to calculate L5 inductor values,we require current ripple about 2% of Load current 20A.

advise me how to calculate L value here please

Thank you,

venkatesh B

thanks in advance

  • could you please response for this?

    Thank you

  • Hi, the L5 inductor is used to filter output voltage ripple & noise, normally, L5 and C31/C32 will form a 2nd stage LC filter. place the corner frequency at about 1/10 of the swtching frequency will provide sufficient insertion loss, this will give you a start point, pay attention to the parasitic parameter such as ESR.ESL,ESC will also contribute the final ripple and noise as well as the good PCB layout with minimized AC high frequency loop

  • Hi, Venkatesh,

Normally, this output inductor is good for output voltage ripple. The inductor value is depending on what you expecting attenuating value. For example, if you want to decrease Delta mV, then according to voltage second balance on inductor. Delta mV=L* Delta Iout/Delta t.

    Thanks.
