TIDA-010210: Choice of switching scheme

Part Number: TIDA-010210

Hi,

It is well known that there can be various switching schemes to control this ANPC topology in addition to the scheme proposed by TIDA-010210

For examples:

1.

Why did you choose this switching scheme proposed by TIDA-010210?

Have you ever tried using other switching schemes to control this power stage?

2.

We know this topology requires proper turn-off sequence and want to know whether other switching schemes can be implemented through F280049 and CLB function..

Do you think it is possible?

Kind regards,

  • Hello,

we implemented the PWM scheme that is switching the FETs connected to the line with line-frequency.

Of course, it is possible to use the PWM scheme that is switching the FET connected to line with high PWM and all other with line frequency, but we did never try this out on this design. The CLB should be able to handle the critical turn off sequence, but as said we did not implement this,

We wanted to try out this scheme since most of the literature is addressing the other one.

  • Hi Harald,

What is the reason for you to choose PWM scheme which is switching the FETs connected to the line with line-frequency to implement.

And you mean you want to try PWM scheme B in the figure above? But PWM scheme A should have better performance, right?

  • Hello Chester,

as written in my response. We tried this out since most of the literature is addressing the other PWM scheme.
We have no plans so far to do a comparison between the two.
