TIDA-010054:  TIDA-010054:Control the output voltage to exceed 500V

Part Number: TIDA-010054

Hi Ti teams

I am trying to modify the control situation of the voltage closed-loop. When the output voltage exceeds 500V, the inductor current begins to fluctuate and gradually increases. When the output voltage reaches around 550V, excessive current fluctuations trigger CBC protection. I hope to obtain a higher output voltage, and before that, I turned off the output voltage limiting protection in the initial program. The current voltage closed-loop is the DF22 controller. I want to know if the power outage caused by the output voltage exceeding around 550V is related to the control loop, and how to modify it.

Thanks for your support.

  • Hi Devin,

Can you describe your test conditions a little more? Do you have the exact TIDA-010054 HW? What is the input voltage? At which load are you testing?

Can you share the current waveforms before the system is tripping?

As an important notice, TIDA-010054 HW is only designed and tested for voltages up to 500V on the output. Increasing the voltage further may lead to failure, do to component ratings.

In general for increased output voltage soft-switching can be lost in a DAB, which will lead to increased losses.
Additionally the indictor current waveform will change and the inductor peak current will increase significantly.

As an example for our HW the inductor peak current on primary-side will be 14.5A  for 10 kW, 800Vin and 500Vout.
Current on the secondary side  will then we 22 A
If we increase the output voltage to 550V and keep 10 kW the inductor peak current will be around 18.5A and 30 A on secondary.

    Best regards,

    Andreas
