TIDA-00508: Target Design Tool (TIDCA88) Units

Part Number: TIDA-00508

Tool/software:

For the target design tool (TIDCA88), are all the units in mil as in thousandths of an inch ?

I saw that the units was "mil" answered in this post: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors-group/sensors/f/sensors-forum/999461/ldc1314-how-to-design-the-target-shape-that-matches-the-coils-design-made-via-webench

But just wanted to confirm whether this is short for millimimetre or thousands of an inch.

Thanks!!

  • Hello,

When we use "mil" we are referring to units of thousandths of an inch. If we are referring to millimeters, we will use "mm" in our documentation.

For the case of the TIDCA88 design spreadsheet, you can use either unit as long as you are consistent in your radius and width inputs. For the TIDA-00508 target, the calculations were done in mm.
