PMP11302: Sizing of the Zener Diode D5 (12V Zener) on the gate of the FET Q1

Part Number: PMP11302

Tool/software:

hi,

My concern is regarding the power rating of the diode used in the PMP11302 design.

The diode D2 connected across the FET Q1 in the design clamps the voltage to 12V in the design.

But my concern here is do we really need 1500mW rated part here?

What would be the actual current flow in this path? What is the Zener Current for which the D5 has been chosen in the design?

In other words, how much current is expected to flow through the resistors R13 (10 ohms) which is sufficient enough to properly regulate the zener and at the same time drive the gate of the FET Q1?

Tried simulating, but the values arrived according to my simulation are not making any sense to me.

Please help with the same.
