PMP22650: Totem pole PFC 6.6 kW efficiency doubt

Part Number: PMP22650

Tool/software:

I am using the PMP22650 SIMPLIS Simulation file as a reference design for my 3.3 kW OBC design. But I found losses in the high frequency leg of the totem pole PFC are high due to this efficiency being LOW from the claimed efficiency of the PFC stage of 98.5%. Please help us figure out the issue. I have attached the simulation efficiency report of the totem pole PFC of PMP22650.

  • The test report on ti.com lists the measured efficiency for the PFC. The Simplis model is an estimate based on calculations. The root cause of this error is unknown and presently no effort is planned to resolve this. However, it is very likely due to worst case loss mechanisms being modelled in the design vs. nominal conditions in the lab.
