TIDA-010015: Solution of improving light load efficiency

Part Number: TIDA-010015
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC256301, UCC28065

Tool/software:

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering power system(PFC+LLC), they are looking a solution for light load efficiency.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

System Requirements

Input voltage: 90Vac to 264Vac
Output voltage: 24Vdc
Load current: 0 to 16A
Power factor: PFC is required
Efficiency: At 200Vac to 240Vac
92% or more for output power of 50W to 384W or more (hopeful goal)
92% or more for output power of 100W to 384W or more (required)

TIDA-010015 cannot satisfy light load efficiency(<100W).

Is there a way to improve light load efficiency with TIDA-010015?

Or are there any other reference designs that can improve light load efficiency?

ーーー

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Shinichi,

Our LLC controller can adjust burst mode pattern. To achieve better light load efficiency, we can force LLC converter to have a deeper burst at light load. The penalty is that output ripple will be larger at light load.

  • Hi Sheng-Yang,

    Thank you for your reply.

I have additional questions, could you

    (1)

Our LLC controller can adjust burst mode pattern.

Could you please advise how to adjust burst mode pattern.

(2)I'd like to further confirm whether the customer's requirement.

UCC256301 is a relatively old product, could you please introduce a solution with using a newer product.

I cannot access the attached URL.

Could you please let me know the correct URL.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi

  • We recommend interleaved PFC UCC28065 + LLC UCC2566xx, paired with our GaN for this power requirement.

We have done 240W, 24V design and the efficiency at 50% is 92% and peak efficiency is 94%.

  • The full design is not published yet, please contact our local FAE to request this information.

The design will be released on ti.com by end of March if you can wait.
