Tool/software:
PSR Flyback DC/DC Converter Transformer Design for mHEV Applications
In the above link, the design includes transformer design information for 12V output (EP7 core with number of turns, gauge and gap information)
I have with E16/8/5 Ferrite core with N87 material, so I want to design the transformer using this ferrite core (E16) and material.
Are there any details on if this core and material can be used, if so - are there any details available regarding the transformer winding spec. for 12V output (no. of turns, gauge of wire, thickness of core gap)
I have tried with this E16 core with winding ratio 1:1 and, 17 turns on both primary and secondary with 34 swg copper wire, with Inductance factor (AL value) with gap is 120nH.
But I am not getting the required output. I am getting undesired output sometimes 1.5V sometimes 2V etc.. and this output is changing with input voltage, when the input reached say 13V something, the output reached to some 63V and the IC got damaged.
The circuit I implemented is same as that in the above link, only the transformer is different.
I have used feedback resistance value as 124kohm and reset resistance value as 12kohm for 12V on the primary side.
The IC is getting damaged for all the transformers I designed as of now.
I think the reason is because of the improper transformer design, can you help me in designing a transformer for 12V output using E16/8/5 core with N87 material.
(no. of turns, gauge of wire, thickness of core gap)
Thanks, and Regards
