Can't update TINA!!

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, UCC28950

I get the error message "Cannot connect to the Internet or cannot find version file!" when I click on "Check for Updates" in the TINA's Help
tab.  I AM connected to the Internet so this isn't the issue.

I tried rebooting my computer without any luck.  Why can't I update TINA??

I am running as administrator the following software versions:

TINA- TI, Version 9.3.100.244 SF-TI

Windows 7.0

Internet Explorer 11

  • Edward,

Please make sure to run TINA-TI as an administrator:

if you are trying to update the software. This can cause problems/issues with the update process.

In this case, I do not know why the error given is no internet connection. However, you already have the latest version of TINA-TI, so you should not need to update the software.

  • am running TINA as administrator as indicated in my email.

I have no interest in updating the TINA simulator since I just downloaded the simulator this week.  I am trying to update the TINA libraries since they are out of date.  For example, the UCC28950 SPICE macro is not in the SMPS library.

Please help me as I need up-to-date libraries in order to run my simulation.

But for some reason, TINA keeps giving me the error message "Cannot connect to the Internet or cannot find version file!" when I check for updates.

  • Edward,
Thanks for your interest in TINA & sorry for the problems you're experiencing.
We have never seen or heard of the error messages you are seeing.
Is there a chance your security software or settings are interfering with your internet access?

If that isn't the problem, and if you haven't tried this already, please uninstall TINA and manually remove any of the residual files in the TINA home directory.
Once that is done, please try reinstalling TINA and start it in the administrator mode before running the update.
    Regards,
    John
  • Edward,

The UCC28950 has not been added to the TINA-TI automatic updater. You will need to pull the reference designs from the product folder. The device does not need to be in the SMPS library for you to use it. You can simply download the transient and average reference designs (.TSC files) and open them using TINA-TI.

As I have stated previously, you have the latest version of TINA-TI. The updates also update the version number and you have the latest updates. There will still be several devices that have not been loaded into the updater. These devices have TINA-TI support in the product folders with reference designs and models (.TSM files). The .TSM files may be used with the Insert-->Macro... function in TINA-TI.
