TIDA-01243: Design Questions

Part Number: TIDA-01243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HD3SS460, TPS65982, TUSB3410

Dear Team,

My customer would like to use this TI design for dock reference.

Please help to answer below questions.

1, Is there any power sequence requirement on this board?

2. If they would like to replace the hub solution, is there any concern?

3. If the Type C port need to support USB3.1 Gen2 10G, could you suggest some solution for this application?

Thank you.

  • Hello Jim,

    Here is my feedback:

    1. No, there is no power sequence, this board can be powered either way the power ports or the UFP ports.
    2. No concerns at all, as long as the customer replaces the part with at pin to pin compatible device or makes the proper modifications for the replacement.
    3. Unfortunately, we don't have a 10G HUB. However, the HD3SS460 units on this board support 10G, also the customer can replace the HD3SS460 units using the TUSB1046, this will provide the required signal conditioning for longer cables or larger layout designs.

    Best regards,

    Diego.

  • Hi Diego,

    Thanks for your reply.
    One more question.
Does TUSB3410 is only used for updating the firmware of TPS65982/TPS65986?
Is any other function used in mini Dock(TUSB3410)? (ex: GPIO, UART, etc…)

    Thanks.
