TIDA-00524: Unable to Read/Write the TIDA-00524 Ultralow Power Multi-sensor Data Logger

Part Number: TIDA-00524

Hi,

I am Doctoral Student at Queen Mary University of London. I have recently purchased TIDA-00524 multi sensor data logger for my project. However, when I inserted the coin cell battery, I am unable to read even the welcome message of data logger. I am using Samsung Note 3 Mobile which have the NFC interface capability.

In addition, I am using three android NFC apps on my Mobile phone, such as NFC TagReader, TagWriter of NXP and NFC Tools. But still unable to get the module functional.

Can someone please help me about my problem in dealing with TIDA-00524 ?  I shall be thankful for your suggestions and guidelines.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Best Regards,

Ahsan

  • Ahsan,

I used a Samsung Galaxy S5 with NFC tools and got it working, but that was several years ago now.  Have you checked out the simplest things, like that there is adequate voltage coming from the battery to power the device?

Also, if I recall correctly, I need to hold the board to a certain spot on the back of my phone to get it to read.  the NFC sensor wasn't centered.  I googled "where is the note 3 nfc antenna" and found a few threads (conflicting, of course) that show different results.  I think the point is, try putting it flat against your phone (no phone cases!) and hold it still, then do a read.  if that doesn't work, move it over a little, and try again.  I feel like I had about 1-2cm of play or it wouldn't communicate.

Here are the two conflicting reports I found:

  • Hi Jason,

Many thanks for your help. I tried your suggestions but the module is yet not working. I shall try to change the battery and will also check the module on some other mobile phone and then let you know if the problem persists or not.

    Thanks for your help.
