TIDA-00626: concern regarding the output measurements

Part Number: TIDA-00626

respected,

i have developed the reference design of TI ie TIDA-00626. i am able to successfully program it and able to lock the VCO in any specified range. my concern is that i am testing the output on Rhode & Schwarz spectrum analyzer and the unit of measurement in my case is dBm. While as i have observed in the datasheet of TIDA-00626 the unit is dBc. I am getting the value of approximately - 50-60 dBm but as specified in datasheet the value is arround 100-110 dBc. kindly clear my doubt regarding this

  • Hi Pratik,

TIDA-00626 demonstrate the output power (unit - dBm) and phase noise (unit - dBc/Hz) performance of designed signal generator. See the key specs section (page - 2) and test data section (page - 18) on TIDA-00626 design guide. Also please go through the design guide for more details on testing and results.

You need to figure out, what measurement you want to do in this design.

If you want to measure output power, spectrum analyzer is sufficient for this.

If you want to do phase noise measurement, you required phase noise analyzer or signal analyzer with phase noise measurement capability (shown in design guide as figure - 8).

Hope, above explanation clear your doubts on measurement part of this design.

    Regards,
