TINA/Spice/LM8261: E1 in SPICE model referenced to ground - unable to use in circuits with HRG supply

Part Number: LM8261
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi,

The LM8261 SPICE model source E1 is referenced to ground with only 100kohms as series resistance. That makes the simulation model inaccurate with high resistance grounded supplies. SPICE model row:

E1 16 0 17 0 1.0

Should one refer that to PIN 4 (VEE) instead to enable the HRG support?

There's another ground referenced object (RE2 1 Tohm), which doesn't bring that much of problems due to higher resistance. SPICE model row:

RE2 43 0 1.0E12

Can these be fixed in future SPICE model update for this component?

  • Thanks for bringing this up to our attention. This is a very old model and the modeling methodology back then has lots of limitations and as such, we will not attempt to fix this model. Instead, a new model based on our current methodology will be prioritized and developed. We don't have a schedule yet but will update this post once we do.

    Thanks!
