TIDA-00366: required design help.

hello,

i am looking to develop this TIDA-00366, but i am confused about the input capacitor. i don't have any idea about what should be the rating of electrolytic capacitor for this type of application. the thing i know is, i have to choose inverter grade capacitor.... but rating of that input capacitors... i don,t know...

input : 1200v dc

so can anyone help me and give me suggestions about capacitors?

                                              Thank you for looking into our TI designs. Apart from voltage rating -  Two factors : capacitance value and ripple current are critical to the proper functioning and reliability of the Inverter. You may refer to IEEE papers or Power electronic text books to know more.

    now i'll search for the proper capacitor value in IEEE papers and power electronics books.
    but if you know the TIDA-00366 very well then based on that what should be the value of capacitor ?
    please suggest your opinion.
  • Hello Pranjal Bhagat,,

                                                TIDA-00366 has only local decoupling capacitor for the inverter stage. The primary objective of the design is to demonstrate the performance of our gate driver, isolated current/voltage sensing along with protection. The bulk DC link capacitor is expected to be connected externally and it’s up to the customer to decide the value based on multiple parameters. Unfortunately this doesn’t give you the answer – but I hope you already started referring to papers / books. In case of any query on TI parts, we will be happy to help you.
