TIDA-00364: Protection of TIDA-00364 using concept of TIDA-00366

Part Number: TIDA-00364
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00366, AMC1301

TIDA-00364 has undervoltage lock out protection, whereas TIDA-00366 has overvoltage, overload, undervoltage, ground-fault and over temperature protection.

Can the design PCB for TIDA-00366 be also used for TIDA-00364 by making use of the protection and sensing circuit, without using the other devices of TIDA- 00366?

  • Hello Pallab,

Can you provide more specifics please. TIDA-00364 is a low voltage inverter whereas TIDA-00366 is a high voltage inverter.

The circuit from TIDA-00366 should work with TIDA-00364 as well but do you need reinforced isolation for sensing?

AMC1301 used for DC link voltage sensing is reinforced isolated. I would recommend you to use voltage divider and opamp circuit for DC link voltage sensing and temperature sensing for your low voltage inverter design.

You can use the overload and ground fault protection circuit from TIDA-00366 and modify the fault threshold voltages according to your requirements.

Please see block diagram in below link for more reference material.

  • Hello Pawan,

Thanks for sharing your views.  I think that reinforced isolation might not be needed for the low voltage inverter. In that case, external protection circuit based on comparators for overcurrent protection would work.
