PMP40182: How to change from buck mode to boost mode

Part Number: PMP40182
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL594, INA225, TS5A3159

Hi Team,

My customer is very interested in PMP40182. Below are several questions from them, please kindly help on this.

  1. How does it change from Buck mode to Boost mode?
  2. Does this design has soft start when it is in Buck mode?
  3. TL594's maximum duty cycle is less than 50%.Can you help me to understand how to boost the battery voltage(<1V) to 12V?
  4. Do you have the data of output voltage and current accuracy?

Thanks a lot!

Regards,

Yangbo

  • Hi, Yangbo,

Thanks for your promotion and question.

    1. How does it change from Buck mode to Boost mode?

==> MCU sets the analog switch TS5A3159 and INA225 get the different current reference voltage, You will see it in the schematic

    2. Does this design has soft start when it is in Buck mode?

==>Softstart can be achieved by MCU setting Iset and Vset gradually.

    3. TL594's maximum duty cycle is less than 50%.Can you help me to understand how to boost the battery voltage(<1V) to 12V?

==>When configurated in single end mode, TL594 duty cycle can be up to above 50%. When configurated in push-pull mode, Tl594 duty cycle will be less than 0.5(adding dead time). In addition, this reference design doesn't use TL594 internal error amplier and use external error amplier.

    4. Do you have the data of output voltage and current accuracy?

==>The current and voltageg accuracy is calibrated to 0.1% accuracy through MCU.
