TIDA-01474: TIDA-01474

Part Number: TIDA-01474
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP470NE, DLPC4422

Hello Everyone

As you may know such project uses the DLP470NE DMD and the DLPC4422 Controller. The DLP470NE uses only the C - data bus and the D - data bus. The A - data bus and the B - data bus, according to the datasheet, are not connected.

As such i'm assuming that the A - data bus and the B - data bus of the DLPC4422 (aka the controller) have to be connected to  C - data bus and D - data bus of the DLP470NE  (aka the DMD)  respectively.

Is this assumption correct ?

Assuming the fairness of the assumption i just did, the MASTER LVDS CONNECTOR of the DMD board ( J1 on the DMD board schematic ) has to be connected to the DMD FLEX CONNECTOR of the Formatter Board ( J500 on the Formatter board schematic ).

Looking at the schematic of the Formatter Board i'm seeing that that most of the pins of the J500  connector are linked to unexpected pins of the Controller ( the DLPC4422 ) .

For instance the connector ( J500)  pin 2D

  • on the DMD board is connected to the 13th negative element of bus C ( DD_CN13 )
  • on the Formatter board is connected to the 14th positive element of bus A (DDA14_P), while it was supposed to be connected to DDA13_N

Such inconsistency is true for most of the pins of the flex connector and it's also true if the assumption i did previously is false.

Am I neglecting something ? Is the schematic wrong ?

Also - Formatter board schematic wise -  the tags of the A and B bus wires are not consistent with pin name of the DLPC4422.
For instance the N1 pin of the DLPC4422 is supposed to be DDP_P_15but the label of the wire linked to it ( on the schematic obviously ) is DDB_00P with subsequent inconsistency on the connector.
Such inconsistency is true for all the data buses.

Again: am i neglecting something ? Is the schematic wrong ?

Thanks

  • Hello Federico,

Thank you for using the DLP Forums.
Regarding the flex connections, the flex cable does not have a 1-1 mapping. For more information on the flex cable, please contact the vendor. The following thread has the vendor and part number. (e2e.ti.com/.../722001

Secondly, the reason why the pin names are not consistent with the signal names is because the software was configured to have the bits swapped.

    Regards,
    Oscar
