TIDA-00996: clarification on the performances of the TIDA

Dear all,

one of my customer is going to replicate in the lab the setup of the TIDA-00996 in order to synchronize 8 DACS. The frequency in place are lower than the capabilities of the DAC3xJ84 (fs about 240MHz, fout in the range between 20MHz and 100MHz).

1. Can the DAC3xJ84 support those low frequencies ? The EVM of the DAC38J84 has some balun at the output (min freq 10MHz), which is the behavior at 20MHz ?

2. Is it possible to trigger the generation of the DATA from a trigger input (also on the master TSW14J56) instead of the GUI ?

Domenyko,

The DAC EVM can support low frequencies, but there will be some loss as the transformer 3dB minimum is at 50MHz. How low do you plan on using this EVM at?

The TSW14J56 can be setup for external trigger mode. See the HSDC Pro User's Guide for more information regarding this.

The min frequency will be 20MHz,

So the customer could change the transformers on the evm.

In the EVM I've noticed that the OUTA and OUTC are phase shifted respect width OUTB and OUTD. Is there any reason ?
Populating the other SMA connectors (J6 and J12) everythinng should be in phase. do you agree ?

Domenyko,

On this EVM, DAC B and DAC D have there outputs swapped going to the transformers to provide for a cleaner routing of the traces. This is why the outputs are out of phase.
